Different Skins...now available to buy!

Different Skins is finally available to order direct from the publisher:

From Tim lebbon's introduction:

"Some horror feels … light. Barren of meaning, just a few slashes of paint on the walls of a big, empty room. The horror of Gary McMahon fills the room completely, and then opens the door and invites you to enter."

Oh, yeah, and I didn't win any awards...

Four British Fantasy Award nominations, zero wins. Surely that must be some kind of record. Can I at least have an award for that?

No? Okay, then. It was worth a try.

Congratulations to those who did win, of course, but amid the trumpeting of the winners, I'd just like to share my commiserations with my fellow losers - especially Paul Meloy (who got my vote) and Simon Bestwick (whose name was mistakenly left off the printed nominations list so didn't even get to hear it read out).

And...relax

So that was FantasyCon 2009, and what a blast it was. I had a great time meeting up with old and new friends, and launching several books. The zombie panel on Friday evening well pretty well, and the signings for Best New Horror and the BFS Yearbook were terrrific. My own little launch with Abaddon was jammed in at the end, when everyone was all launched out, but it was still lots of fun.

Speaking of which, HUNGRY HEARTS should be available through the usual UK on-line retailers in the next couple of weeks (official release is November, but it should be on the shelves by October):

FantasyCon - 18th to 20th September 2009

My favourite weekend of the year approaches! I have a pretty full schedule at FantasyCon this year, so if you intend to be there please pop up and say hello.

Here are the main things I'll be involved with:

Friday 18th

Zombies, Werewolves & Mummies: Traditional Monsters in Horror Fiction - 20:15
I'm sitting on this panel with Simon Bestwick, Steve Jones and Brian Clemens. No pressure there, then...

Saturday 19th

Mammoth Book of Best New Horror launch and signing - 15:00
British Fantasy Society Yearbook launch and signing - 17:15
Abaddon Books launch and signing ("Hungry Hearts") - 18:00

Hopefully John Probert and I will be doing a joint reading at some point on Saturday, as part of the launch of both out books from Screaming Dreams (Different Skins for me and Against The Darkness from JLP).

I hope to see a lot of faces there, and to get woefully drunk with friends old and new.
